In gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original tri fold ribbon with dual award clasps, the obverse consisting of a rightward facing profile of Karl I circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central inscription of FORTITUDINI (BRAVERY) within a laurel wreath and above crossed standards, the obverse marked KAUTSCH for maker Heinrich Kautsch,
