Charles Laughton Finish:Float frame clad in his dressing-gownCharles Laughton (1899 1962), English actor and director, c1930s c1940s. Laughton starred in films such as The Private Life of Henry VIII (1933), for which he won a Best Actor Oscar, Witness for the Prosecution (1957), and Spartacus (1960). He directed just the one film, Night of the Hunter (1957) which was not a commercial success.
